Our pattern for Kariginu and Suikan includes full-size pattern pieces and step-by-step instructions on how to construction Kariginu and Suikan Sugata in a period manner (as well as directions for machine sewing). This pattern includes the kariginu or suikan (top), hitoe(under top), sashinuki hakama (pouffy pants), kosode (undershirt), shitabakama (drawers) and eboshi (hat). Also included are extensive historical notes on the origin and appropriateness of kariginu and suikan, colour, embellishment, and fabric suggestions, how to make kikutoji and directions on how to get dressed.

    This is a well researched, and easy to follow pattern. The layers create a beautiful informal suite proper for a court gentleman to hunt, or as daywear. I highly recommend it. I also strongly recommend the Getting Dressed Guide to really complete the look.
