The Great Turkish Underwear Project — Part II: the prep work

Building A Replica Gömlek

Step one: Cut your linen into period widths. It's a good idea to pull a thread out of the weave and cut along the "ditch" so you make sure to cut a very straight edge. It is time consuming, but when you hem everything, you'll be grateful you took the time to do it.               Step two: Carefully make the tiniest hems possible on all the pieces of your gömlek.                 Step three: Continue hemming. This is going to take some time.             Step four: Marvel at the wonderfully tiny hems you've made.
