Do you hear the people sing? To the barricades!
Our Men's Trowsers pattern gives you an easy-to-follow guide to making the trousers of the Napoleonic or Regency period. Long the lower body garment of the lower classes, during the French Revolution the wearing of trousers became a statement of empathy with the revolutionaries, the sans culottes (literally “without breeches”), as breeches were a symbol of the aristocracy.
If we take changes in clothing as an indication of changes in social concepts, it is not surprising that this is the outfit that heralded the rise of the middle class.
Our pattern helps you make Trowsers you'll be proud to wear!
