Wrap yourself in an 18th-century gown!

The robe battante is a direct descendant of the robe de chambre of the 17th century. Sometimes the gown was worn open in front and sometimes it was seamed from the waist to the hem. This bag-like shape is what gave rise to the name “sack”.

Our easy-to-use pattern, based on extant and pictorial examples, helps you make this predecessor of the Sacque or Robe Français, the Robe Battante.  Included are the early wrappers known as robe battante or robe volante, as well as the jacket-length version, the casaque.

Fits busts 30½"-48" and waists 23"-41". All sizes in one envelope.

Also included are assembly instructions, embellishment suggestions, and the extensive historical notes you've come to expect from Reconstructing History.

Suggested Fabrics: silk or fine wool

Notions: thread, ribbon

Yardage Requirements:  6 yds at least 60" wide
